Spanish Tip at the Top of the Week #3

You know the letters y and o are also words, but did you know they have alternate spellings? The word y becomes e when the following word begins with the i sound, and the word o becomes u when the following word begins with the o sound. Remember (Tip #2), the h is silent and has no effect on this pronunciation issue.

Ex.

español e inglés

oxígeno e hidrógeno

uno u otro

adiós u hola
